About Cellular Jail
The Cellular Jail is the most important site in the islands: the colonial prison where hundreds of Indian freedom fighters were held in solitary confinement, now a national memorial. Three of the original seven wings survive, along with the central tower and the gallows. The evening Light & Sound Show tells the jail's story in the courtyard and is included in most of our Port Blair itineraries.
